Living in Conscious Communities during Covid-19

Life certainly took an unexpected turn when covid-19 became a very serious issue in the world whilst I was in Australia, on what was supposed to be only a 2 week visit to the country. Almost four months later and I’m still here in Auz, and have had the most incredible experiences of living in conscious communities (away from mainstream society) during this pandemic. When we’re old and we reflect back on the ‘corona virus times’, I am fortunate enough to have some of the most incredible experiences to reminisce over.

In this video I share all of my juicy experiences with you, including the unexpected events, the magical moments and the more shadowy aspects that living in such communities has allowed me to encounter.

Conscious Community 1, Byron Bay NSW

After I had made the decision that I would stay in Australia instead of going back to the UK or Germany to live the lock down life, I decided to check out Workaway. I found this conscious community on there which was near Byron Bay, to volunteer and live off-grid on a beautiful permaculture farm. We lived very simply and in alignment with the earth, with no electricity other than solar (and no running water other than the rain was that was collected). My role within the community was to teach morning yoga classes, help out in the gardens and sometimes help cook food for all 20+ of us living there. Every evening there was meditation and ecstatic dance which was so much fun! In our spare time we also created our own workshops and ceremonies together. It was an awesome few weeks with the most amazing people…that is until we got kicked out of the community because of the restrictions placed upon number of people per household due to covid.

Conscious Community 2, Mossvale QLD

After getting kicked out of the first community, we were rescued by Lucy and her wonderful family who took all seven of us strangers into their beautiful organic farm land. I ended up staying for almost 6 weeks, and I had the most magical experiences of my life (so far). We bathed under the stars, danced around the fire, had full & new moon ceremonies, sauna every week, we hosted group workshops and rituals and just had the most incredible time connecting as one big blissful family. What I also really loved about my time, was that we did weekly sharing circles to check in and see how everyone is really doing. I am infinitely grateful for the most amazing experiences at Mossvale, and I feel so humbled to be on the receiving end of so much unconditional love and generosity (especially at a time where the rest of society was falling apart around us).
